Kensington Candle
Hand poured, soy based candles that are 100% natural.
During the height of the pandemic I began immersing myself into candle making. I studied the different types of waxes, experimented with a plethora of fragrance oils and spent hours illustrating my labels, which resulted in a cathartic experience during an extremely uncertain time in my life. Kensington, coined after the street name I grew up on in the suburbs of Minnesota represents a piece of my home, to yours.

Before having the labels printed, testing them on the size of your vessel is important to make sure the dimensions are correct.

I also found it useful to see how the candle would look displayed with the placeholder label & while being lit.

Wax Pouring
The next step is melting & pouring the wax. I am using Soy Wax 464 ( an all natural soy wax) which has a melting point of around 119°, but must be boiled until 185° in order to add fragrance oil correctly.

Testing Wicks
During this process candle wicks must be tested as it ensures the candle will burn correctly based on the size of the container being used. If a wick is too big for the vessel, the candle will burn too fast and the container could potentially get too hot and crack, if a wick is not large enough the candle will not burn on all sides.

Printed Labels
After making sure the labels fit, configuring the best size wick and pouring the wax - I had a final version of the labels printed, ready to be placed on the jars.

Finished Product
The result of picking vessels, ordering thousands of wicks, testing different types of wax and tens of fragrance oils, tracking down bulk distributors and spending hours creating the labels in Illustrator…the final product is complete!

Warning Label
And of course I couldn’t forget the warning label, the most crucial part of selling candles. Not only is it illegal to sell a candle commercially without a warning sticker, but it is one step of many to protect yourself against liability purposes.

With hints ranging from toasted pecans and ripe banana to cinnamon sugar and sweet apple. This collection will make any space feel warm and cozy.
Christmas Collection
Break into the Christmas spirit with the Kensington Candle Christmas Collection! Santa has approved these candles on his nice list, including his favorite coco recipe as a scent. The Christmas Collection has notes ranging from dark chocolate with clove to ginger and cinnamon, no wonder it’s the most wonderful time of the year.
